Edmundite 175th Anniversary

To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Society of Saint Edmund's we invited members of the community to share their memories of Saint Michael's founding order.

Fr. Art Kirwin, O.P., ’57

In the mid to late 50’s, there were more Edmundites on campus and the priests that impacted me and I know many of my classmates were Fr. Paulin, Fr. Dupont, Fr. Duford, Fr. Gopaul, Fr. Coombs, Fr. Sullivan, Fr. Stankiewicz, Fr. Poirier, Fr. Boucher, Fr. Crowley, Fr. Moriarty, and others I’ve forgotten. Even in the sometimes more rigid Catholicism of the 50’s, Fr. Paulin was a free spirit: a genuinely holy and spiritual man. He seemed always to be smoking his pipe except when teaching theology or French. Blessings and gratitude for all the Edmundites living and deceased. They made their mark and still do.
